1. Got up around 6:45, and got ready for the day.
2. Spent my morning doing various schooly things, and planning out the day's Latin lesson.
3. Walked two blocks to Gloria's house for Latin. We did some fun activities that included reading the first Harry Potter book aloud in Latin.
4. I had an idea about creating a Harry Potter Latin Summer Book Club (still working on the name :P), and emailed people who I thought might be interested by such an idea.
5. Did some more things that were boringly academic in nature, then went to my dad's house.
6. Researched various smartphones for a while, and made a nice chart of what they cost from different places.
7. I realized that my SAT scores were up on the College Board website, so I went to check those. My total was a 1800, which I was pretty happy with, though I wish I had done better on the math. Interestingly, my ACT scores are actually quite a bit better than the SAT scores.
8. Isabelle and I had dinner with my dad and Beth, then came back home.
9. I discussed college stuff with my mom for a while, watched Doctor Who, read Jane Eyre, and went to bed.

Saturday, May 2, 2015 {SAT!}
1. Got up at 6:15 (fifteen whole minutes later than I do on weekdays!!!!) after waking up at 4, 5, 5:30, an 6, freaking out that I had overslept.
2. Ate a quick breakfast, gathered my things, and left for the high school.
3. From 7:45 to 1, I was in a room taking the SAT. I would tell you about it, except that I signed a statement that yes, I was who I said I was, and no, I would not talk about the test in any way. So, yeah.
4. I missed the YARC (YA Review Committee) meeting at Village Books entirely, but a few of my totally awesome friends stuck around (and saved pizza for me!!). I went to VB after leaving the highschool to drop off the ARCs I needed to return, and C, L, and E were all still there, and we hung out for a little over an hour.
5. It was Independent Bookstore Day, so fun stuff was happening all over the bookstore, including a scavenger hunt. After finding the answers to some questions, and filling out a sheet of paper, you could turn it in for a prize. I got a giftcard, with which I bought fudge. Cause that's what you do with free money and fudge available to buy.
6. I finally got home around 3ish, and spent the next hour or two reading a little (What If? by Randall Munroe), and generally trying to relax. I was slightly productive, I did get a bit caught up on my Geology reading, but I was mostly trying to decompress from the SAT and all that.
7. We had tuna steaks and cauliflower for dinner, and Isabelle made some cookies.
8. We watched the Avengers and ate cookies.
9. I got a little bit of my Geology lab on plate tectonics done. I'll have to do the rest of it tomorrow.
10. I wrote this, read Jane Eyre, and went to bed. Tomorrow I get to sleep in! But I also have lots of homework to do, so there is that.

Friday, May 1, 2015 {May Day}
Today was a long day. I'm sitting here trying to remember this morning, and it feels like a week ago!
1. I got up nice and early (6ish), got ready for the day, and actually ate some breakfast, which is not always something that happens.
2. I took to bus to school and went to Geology class. The topic for today was mountains and mountain building.
3. After class, C. and I hung out in our usual spot. For the life of me, I can't remember what we talked about for most of the time. My lack of good sleep seems to be catching up with me. We did talk about stuff though, most of it random and unimportant, but some of it might have been interesting.
4. C. went off to his next class, and I did the English work we had instead of class today. The instructor is at a conference, so she moved class online. That took me a little over and hour, and then I wandered over to the art department in Cascade to check out the notecard exchange. I don't spend much time over there, but I love checking the cards. The idea is that anyone can put up a 3x5 (or similar) card with their art on it, and if you put one up, you can take one you like. There is some pretty cool stuff on there.
5. C. and his mom very kindly gave me a ride home, and once home I cleaned a little, and talked with my friend E. for a little bit on the phone. We talked mostly about my own social awkwardness and anxiety, but he also gave me my new life tagline, "I am too tired not to be sarcastic." This is me. XD
6. Current Events class happened. The topic was about categorizing people and how/if was can/should do that. It provided some interesting discussion. Ted led wonderfully and was obviously quite invested in this topic.
7. After class, some May Day gifts were dispensed (thanks Julie and Connie!).
8. We ate dinner, and headed to self defence class.
9. At the class, we had interesting discussion, and then worked on more ground grappling techniques.
10. Came home, wrote this, read Jane Erye, went to bed. SAT in the morning!

Thursday, April 30, 2015 {Latin}
1. I got up around 6:45 and got ready for the day.
2. I spent most of the earlier part of the morning focused on making a plan for Latin. Around 10, Lisa called to say I. wouldn't be at Latin. I made a few more quick calls to make sure that H. would be there, and that Gloria was fine with us using her house as a classroom.
3. After finishing up the Latin prep, I read and notated an essay of a classmate from my English class which I am doing a peer review of. I ate some watermelon while doing this. Also did some history stuff.
4. I walked to Gloria's for Latin. With one student missing, it was a bit of a different experience, but I think it went well, and we covered everything I wanted to in the time allotted.
5. I got a ride home from Connie, and then ate lentil soup while working on my peer review letter.
6. My dad came to take us to his house. Once there, I finished the peer review letter and submitted it online, then switched to Geology. I researched volcanoes for a while for an essay I have to write, but burned out pretty quickly. I finished a post lab worksheet, then did a bit of work on a lab on plate tectonics, and read a bit about metamorphic rocks in my textbook. I am a bit behind on reading, but should be able to catch up pretty easily this weekend.
7. I did unimportant internet things for a while, like checking DeviantArt which I really need to do more often, and briefly discussing the new CGP Grey video and the new Hello Internet episode with H.
8. As burned out and tired as I was, I persevered and worked on math prep for the SAT a bit. Not sure how useful it was since I was having a really hard time paying attention, but since the test is on Saturday, it seems like a good idea to at least try to be prepared.
9. Isabelle and I ate dinner with Dad, Beth, and Aidan (my stepmom and stepbrother), then went to Menchies.
10. Came home and read the peer review letter that my classmate wrote for me. I think he had some good suggestions, and I will definitely take what he said into account as I go about revising this essay.
11. Cleaned the house a bit for current affairs tomorrow. I thought about trying to do some more school stuff, but my mental exhaustion won out and nothing productive was done.
12. Watched Doctor Who, puttered around a little on the internet, read Jane Eyre and went to bed.

Tuesday, April 28, 2015 {Pirouettes}
Today would be a little boring to go through in strict chronological order, so instead, here are the things I did today, grouped so that they make more sense.
1. I spent the majority of the day working on an essay, the rough draft of which is due tomorrow. I knew what I was writing about, and I had lots of pieces written (about 2000 words actually), but it was in little chunks I needed to find a way to piece together. I decided to go the index card and color coded note route, which is always fun and worked pretty well, though I feel like it could still be more cohesive.
2. I worked on a world map for Geology for a while. Each tectonic plate had to be colored a different color on a double page spread world map handout. That was actually super fun. Next step is to label a bunch of fault lines and active volcanoes on it.
3. For history, I mostly did map work. Those maps were a little frustrating, and I ended up changing the directions because A) I didn't like them, and B) they weren't doable with the information I had. Granted, Google exists, but I didn't have the time or patience to bother looking the stuff up. Maps are fun, though, and I love doing them for history. Getting to do one for Geology too is awesome. I also did some reading for history.
4. Those things took up the majority of my day, but I also did a bit of SAT math prep, and listened to the new Hello Internet episode while I worked on map stuff.
5. Those things were basically my entire day from 8 to 5. After that, we had dinner, and I left for ballet.
6. Ballet class was good. I've been getting a little frustrated with my turns lately, and today I had the same problems. Today in pirouettes and piques, I could easily do a single, but consistently fell out of it 1.5 times around, never being able to hit a double with out falling out of the turn.
7. After dance I came home and tried to make the Works Cited page for my essay, before realizing I didn't have all the information I needed to do that, and so turned in my draft online.

Sunday, April 19, 2015 {The First Day!}
Woo! First post on a new blog! I've had a number of blogs in my time (some much more successful that others) and that first post is always exciting. I think this will go in different formats different days, but I'm going to start out by trying out a sort of a list format. Whatever I end up doing, my goal is to post about four times a week.
1. Woke up at 7:30, which was the latest I've woken up in maybe two weeks. It was great.
2. I spent a good part of the morning reading about plate tectonics for Geology and doing a "bonus" assignment for that class. One of my friends, who is in that class with me, and I are trying to figure out what these bonus assignments really are. The syllabus clearly states that there is NO extra credit available, but when the instructor handed out this assignment, he said that it wasn't required. Whaaa?
3. I wrote an 800 word informal paper for my English class about religion in my homeschool group, and an essay by Jamaica Kincaid called "On Seeing England for the First Time." The Kincaid essay is short, well-written, and is a very interesting look into the effects of colonialism and cultural difference.
4. Ate lunch, went to babysit. The weather was AMAZING for April - mid to high 60's and sunny, and so the kids and I spent the three hours I was with them outside, scootering around the cul-de-sac, playing in the yard, and trading Pokemon cards with the neighbor kid. Pokemon was huge in the homeschool group about five, six years ago, but it's totally faded out of my realm of awareness. Now these kids spend just as much time trading cards as my friends did back when we were the ages these kids are now.
5. Came home, ate mushroom bread pudding for dinner, and had a long discussion with Mom and Isabelle about the various attributes of the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors from Doctor Who.
6. Read from my English textbook (the topic was different ways of using evidence in a paper), and completed a short discussion post on Canvas about it. Canvas, for those who don't know, is an online resource for colleges that allows instructors to put up lecture notes, assignments, handouts and more on it. It also has discussion forums for the class, ways to submit assignments electronically, and way to keep track of grades. Most classes at WCC use it, and for those that do, checking Canvas is as important as actually being in class. You have to do them both a lot to be successful.
7. Watched Doctor Who, and freaked out a little about the essay section of the SAT while Mom and Isabelle tried to convince me that I should actually be glad I have to write the essay, rather than being in next year's group, which won't have to.
